SECONDARY SCHOOLS PROGRAMME 2024-25

FILM MAKING

LEVEL: Transition Year (but suitable for all age groups within the secondary school system)

COURSE OPTIONS: Two

FORMAT: The majority of the course work will be practical/hands on

TUTORS: All our tutors are trained, experienced and Garda vetted

 

COURSES:

 

Option 1        10 WEEK FILM MAKING PROGRAMME

                        Schedule: 1 Double Class per week

                        Fee: €950 (Total)

 

Option 2        1 DAY FILM MAKING WORKSHOP

                        Schedule: 1 Full School Day

                        Fee: €450 (Total)

COURSE CONTENT:

FILM MAKING ELEMENTS – Overview of the various departments in filmmaking.

CAMERA – Film vs Digital, Lenses, Aperture, Depth of Field, ISO & Colour Balance

LIGHTING – Natural vs Artificial. Tungsten vs LED

SOUND – Microphones, Recording Devices, Sync Sound, ADR, Wild Tracks & Foley

DIRECTING – Script breakdown, Artistic Vision, Co-ordinating your team, Working with Actors

 

*In the one-day workshop option, each of the above will be covered broadly throughout the day. In our 10-week programme, a full class will be dedicated to each of the above headings with room to explore peripheral roles such as script supervisor, assistant directors, assistant camera, and production managers.

 

OPTIONAL SHORT FILM SHOOT

For the 10-week programme students, schools have the option to add a two-day short film shoot to the schedule. If selected, the short film would become the primary vehicle through which all other content is steered throughout the term. Scriptwriting would become an element of the course, and the ten weeks would be focused on preparing the film for shooting.

 

Schedule: 2 Full School Day – Includes two of our staff to oversee the shoot, equipment and editing.

Fee: €1200 (Total)
