The Intimacy Lab is a creative and practical intensive exploring how actors build connection, chemistry, and intimacy on screen through movement, observation, consent, and storytelling.
Led by intimacy coordinator Roseanne Real and movement artist Inma Pavón, this workshop invites participants into a collaborative laboratory where intimacy is investigated rather than imitated. Through movement exercises, scene analysis, and re-performance techniques, participants will explore how moments of connection are created, communicated, and choreographed for film.
Using extracts from screen work as a starting point, participants will deconstruct and reconstruct intimate moments, examining the physical and emotional choices that shape them. Inspired by practices of re-performing and reinterpretation, actors will be encouraged to bring their own artistic voice to the work while developing practical tools for screen performance.
The workshop will include creative movement and partnering exercises, consent and communication practices, analysis of a well-known film scene, reconstruction and re-choreography of intimate moments, group sharing, and reflection.
Designed as an exploratory space for curiosity and play, The Intimacy Lab offers performers the opportunity to deepen their understanding of connection, vulnerability, and physical storytelling in a safe, professional, and supportive environment.
