Both BOLT and Actorsvision members are often encouraged to write and direct as well as perform. One such member, Olkan, has recently written and released a play titled ‘Corset’. In his own words; “Corset is a play happening during the 18th century, about two very independent and strong women, who like to be free but they find themselves to be married soon. The story is important for me because, while it’s happening in the 18th century, it’s talking about an actual problem in our society, things that are still happening around the world, the power that some men take over women and forcing them to get married. While it’s a very important message that I want to send here, it’s made in a very light way and enjoyable, I didn’t want to make it heavy. You’re receiving the message but you’re having a good time.”
When asked about further ambitions, adapting the play, other works, etc, Olkan responded very positively. “I would really really like to adapt it as soon as possible, I’ve directed before and directing your own play is the dream! I don’t know when, I don’t know how, but someday I will! For now I’m working on other projects but I’d rather keep those secrets haha!”
